CLIENT
The General Directorate of Foundations covers a wide range of services, from protecting foundation heritage sites to social aid, rental listings and scholarships. Its website is where citizens first reach these services. Every October, when scholarship applications open, hundreds of thousands of students try to reach the site within a short window.

As traffic rose, pages slowed down, and at peak hours the site stopped responding altogether. The infrastructure wasn't built for the sudden surge of the scholarship period; unoptimised images and pages generated on every request made pages slow to open even on ordinary days. Updating announcements and pages also required technical support.

We addressed the server architecture, page structure and content management together. We built a setup whose capacity grows with traffic and whose caching layers reduce the load on the servers. Pages are prepared in advance and served in a lightweight form, and images load at the right size for each device.

With the new content management system, the directorate's own team publishes announcements, scholarship pages and institutional content without technical help. On the day applications open, traffic still peaks; pages open as fast as on any other day.
